Kätabo Hunting Lodge

A hunting experience on an old hunting and fishing lodge in northwestern Småland

Kätabo hunting lodge is located in the scenic Fegen nature reserve and has been featured in "Gods och gårdar" magazine. Here you have the nature of Småland just around the corner and access to a rowing boat and canoe, as well as your own beach. The farm has a very interesting history that stretches all the way back to the 15th century. Here you will find fascinating stories about the soldiers and American emigrants who have lived and worked on the farm over the years. Stefan, who runs Kätabo hunting lodge, was also involved in starting the Swedish hunting club and the farm holds different types of hunts.

Hunting lodge
The cosy hunting lodge is built in timber in the old style, with hand-cut, pattern-matching logs with Norwegian knots, sealed with peat moss and grass on the roof. The cottage is located on a secluded plot with a view of the farm's deer enclosure. In the tastefully decorated cottage you can snuggle up in front of a fire of an evening. The hunting lodge can accommodate 4 people.

Nya Stursken soldier’s croft
In the 18th century, there was a soldier's croft on Kätabo farm called Stursken. In 2016, a new croft was built in the style of the old soldier's cottage. The croft is painted red with white corner joints and has a beautiful porch. The cottage is equipped to a modern standard but the wallpaper and furnishings are reminiscent of the 1700-1800s. The croft is located on a secluded plot on the farm, with a view of the farm's deer enclosure and pastures for the farm's sheep and it can accommodate 6 people. 

Hunting
Kätabo Hunting lodge offers hunting of fallow deer, mouflon, ducks, roe deer, pigs, elk and small game. In the farm's enclosure you will find a fine stock of fallow deer, everything from sturdy medal deer to pole and spike bucks, hinds, fawns and large mouflon. The hunt is conducted as a stand hunt from hunting towers for selected game or as a sole hunter, stealth hunting. Driven hunting or a combination of stalking and driven hunting can also be arranged on request.
