Canoe & hike in Fegen Nature Reserve
Fegen Nature Reserve is the place for those who love wildlife.
Here you can get out on the water, hike, fish, swim and be at one with nature. The nature reserve includes both Lake Fegen and the surrounding forest. Here you can enjoy peace and tranquility in a stunning landscape. Fegen has plenty of small sheltered bays, protruding headlands and about 70 islands and is therefore a very popular lake for canoeing. You can choose to go out for a day trip starting from Fegen or embark on a longer adventure that takes you further through the Svansjön and Kalvsjön lake system.
On the east side of Fegen beach you can also experience nature in the reserve by hiking the Gislavedsleden. Along the trail there are several rest areas where you can cook over an open fire and fall asleep under the stars in the shelter. Combine your hike with canoeing. You can, for example, canoe from the village of Fegen to the northern part of the lake and then hike back to Fegen via Gislavedsleden, a real wilderness tour. If you are lucky, you may see elk or deer among the thickets or an osprey down at the water's edge. Don't miss the opportunity to stop at Sandvik's beautiful forest swimming spot.
