Tuskeboleden trail

The Tuskebo walking path that runs along Lake Tuskebo takes you back in time and offers many interesting cultural environments. The trail starts at Pålsbo about 5 km southwest of Gislaved. On the walk you pass through two parishes - Våthult and Villstad.

The fact that people have been in the area for a long time is not only shown by Iron Age graves near Nissastigen, but also by the finds of a stone axe and a log boat at Tuskebo farm.  During the walk, you pass several places where people previously lived and worked, such as a ridge cottage and an unusually well-preserved potash oven. Via the trail's many information signs, you can find out about different life stories, such as Cajsa who supported her small family alone and walked 80 km to the match factory in Jönköping to get work.

Draven

The Draven nature reserve is located about 10 km north of Lake Bolmen and is one of Sweden's most interesting bird areas. Garganey, spotted crake, coot, water rail, black-headed gull, bittern, wigeon, curlew, western marsh harrier, whooper swan, crane and greylag goose all nest here. Many different ducks, geese and waders also roost here during migration. Peregrine falcons have been spotted at the lake and several other birds of prey hunt their food here. In winter you can see white-tailed eagles.

An approx. 9 km long trail with footbridges runs around the lake. Along the trail you will find two bird watching towers, hides and lookouts. Shelters and overnight cabins are available for those who want to combine their hiking with open air camping.
