Barbecuing over an open fire is fun & restful, an experience in itself. Below are some tips on where you can find some lovely barbecue areas in our part of Småland.
Öreryd
A great rest area with two shelters. At the rest area there is also a barbecue area, firewood storage, a toilet, a litter bin and an information board.
Alabo
This rest area is located at the top of the northern part of the district. At the rest area there is a shelter, a barbecue area, firewood storage, a toilet, a litter bin and an information board.
Hestra/Isaberg
In Hestra you will find barbecue areas at Lake Agnsjön, the Skogslekplatsen playground and Enevägen playground.
If you continue to Isaberg, there are nice barbecue areas down by the beach.
Värö Nature Reserve
Värö is a popular excursion destination. There is a path that runs around the whole island that is approx. 800 metres long. On Jansson's headland in the east, a shelter, a toilet and a fireplace with firewood can be found.
Algustorpasjön
Cosy rest area with beautiful views of the lake.
At the rest area there is a shelter, a fireplace, wood storage, a toilet, a litter bin and an information board
Bäckshult
Lovely rest area on the hill. There is a shelter, a fireplace, wood storage, a toilet, a litter bin and an information board. The toilet is located about 50 metres further up from the shelter.
Hägnalian
The rest area at Hägnalian is located in a sheltered location by a forest road. At the rest area there is a fireplace, woodshed, composting toilet and shelter.
Båraryd
At the rest area in Båraryd village there is a shelter, a fireplace, wood storage, a toilet, a litter bin and an information board.
Mjösundet
The rest area at Mjösundet is beautifully situated on the headland overlooking Lake Majsjön. At the rest area there is a fireplace, a composting toilet and a shelter.
Leabo sand
The rest area at Leabo Sand is a stone's throw from a beautiful swimming spot at Sävsjön. At the rest area there is a fireplace, a composting toilet and a shelter.
Rönnegården
Lovely rest area that has a shelter with fold down tarpaulin to stop mosquitoes and midges etc. A barbecue area, wood storage, a toilet and a litter bin can be found up on the hill behind the shelter.
Gislaved
Barbecue areas can be found at Rödjan, along the Nissan Nature and Culture Trail, at Holmen, Gullviveskolan, Linnégatan, Seths hage and at Rastadammarna.
Holmen offers a brand new playground, outdoor gym and four barbecue areas, two of which are barbecue huts and also the best sledging hill in Gislaved in the winter and is an excellent fishing spot in the summer.
Anderstorp
In Anderstorp you can barbecue at Moen/Drakaberget, on Ekekullen and at Jonsbo. All these places also offer ideal sledging slopes. So pack a picnic and bring your sledge for a great day out.
Anderstorps Stormosse also has a great barbecue area where you can hear and see birds.
Reftele
In Reftele you will find barbecue areas at Sjödells arena, Ölmestadsskolan,
the Scout hut and at Rönneljung.
Boberg
At the rest area there is a fireplace, litter bins, wood storage and composting toilets. Firewood is regularly replenished between May and October.
Burseryd
Here you will find a barbecue area with a shelter.
Broaryd
Here you will find barbecue facilities by the football field.
Skeppshult
The rest area is located at the far south end of the canoe trail. There is a shelter, a barbecue area, wood storage, a toilet and a litter bin on site.
Grävlingbacken
Grävlingabacken is in Fegen nature reserve and is easily accessible by car, canoe or on foot. From the shelter you have a beautiful view of the lake. A stack of firewood means that the two fireplaces are ready for a fire.
Close by, the Gislavedsleden hiking trail continues north over Sandvik to the rest area at Boberg.
At the rest areas there are fireplaces, litter bins, firewood storage and composting toilets. Firewood is regularly replenished between May and October.
Smålandsstenar
Here you will find two different rest areas at Åtteråsskolan and the football field.
Ågård
Rest area with the river Nissan running both in front of and behind the shelter. At the rest area there is a shelter, a barbecue area, firewood, a toilet, a litter bin and an information board
General information about rest areas along the Nissan
Along the Nissan there are eight rest areas where you can take a load off and stay overnight if you have a canoe voucher that is associated with the canoe trail.
Each rest area contains a shelter, firewood storage, a barbecue area, a litter bin and a toilet. At the rest area there is also an information board with rules and the right of public access regulations.
